Four groups united today to oppose the signing of legislation by Governor David Paterson that will allow the use of Segways on sidewalks, roadways and bike and skate lanes. From the press release: Disability, consumer, transportation and environmental groups expressed disappointment that Governor Paterson approved legislation that would for the first time allow motorized vehicles on sidewalks, bike lanes and local roads when he recently signed a bill granting Segway scooters special status. Last night, there were fireworks. We originally planned to scoot down to English Bay and watch the fireworks from the beach, but we’re down two scooters at the moment and really lethargic about it all.
