The Kings County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about an identity theft scam involving the offer of a free or low-cost mobility scooter. A Hispanic man and woman in their late 50s have been going door-to-door contacting elderly residents, asking for personal information such as Social Security numbers, date of birth and driver's license numbers, sheriff's officials said.
